Hello I am having problem with my computer I just had my hard drive replaced and reinstalled windows xp pro sp2 and for some reason i cannot connect all the time. I installed my drivers. and i can surf the net for like 5 mins or so then when i go to a new page i will get "the page cannot be displayed". i uninstalled my norton antivirus no change. I also called my isp Verizon dsl they pinged to see if I am gettin connection and I am I am also able to connect to aim but pages arent comming up did something go wrong when i updated to sp2. Everytime this happens to me i have to restart my laptop. and then it reconnects for a shorttime. I tried the internet explorer lan setting about detecting to set it to automatic. is there something thats making internet explorer lose connection please help me i have like 3 hrs till i leave work because i am currently using my work comp because of this issue thank you.

Try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers

I tried that I even did a system restore to get back sp1 i unstalled my nortons antivirus and it just doesnt keep a constant connection and i dont think its my modem because it does the same at work also. any other ideas

Its not your 8600. It is your Wireless Card, Router, or Modem. How are you connnected. Wireless? You never stated that.

i would agree. i had the same problem for a while and i ran the winsockfix and that helped. if it is a wireless card, try using the dell wireless utility if you havent done so already. if you have and that doesnt work, try the windows utility. also, are you using the drivers from the disks that came with it or are you using the drivers from teh dell website? i would try to get a hold of the newer drivers.
