Hard Drive Questions
I am somewhat confused as to all the different hard drives that are available for laptops. How much of a performance difference is there between a sata 150 and an ultra ata/100?
Is a sata drive at 5400 rpm better than an ata 100 drive at 7200? Is a 7200 rpm HD a necessity for certain apps? Finally, if I opt for an ata 100 HD and decide later to replace it with a sata 150 is it even possible?

Re: Hard Drive Questions
Well, There is SATA and PATA, and right now, the majority is PATA, with some SATA compatiable hard drives.
There is no real benifet to get SATA, yet. 7200rpm is never necessary but a suggested upgrade because it boosts loading times by quite a bit.
You can only go PATA -> SATA if your laptop's motherboard supports it.

Re: Hard Drive Questions
Yeah, don't worry about wheter or not your notebook is SATA, no real difference. I have a SATA drive in my notebook, had a PATA in my previous notebooks.
The faster RPM drive would be better.
The interfaces are not compatible, so if you have a SATA notebook, you stick with SATA drives, and vice versa.
