Question:
Compaq Presario R4225CA vs Toshiba M70-SR3
Hi, needing to buy a laptop (most likely today) for my cousin, he's a student studying music.
Just needs a laptop for basic things that'll last him a while. Not really into games, but needs something reliable and sturdy, as his last asus laptop died. I'm looking at these two laptops.
the Compaq R4225CA specs here: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/sub...3&page=1&list=
the Toshiba M70-SR3: specs here:

They are both the same price, and should be similar in performance. Just looking for the best bang for the buck (combined with some sort of battery life and reliablity)

Skip the Toshiba - I would never even consider one. Build quality is subpar, and has taken a dive in recent years. Also, their optical drives and hard drives are noisy.
The Compaq R4000 is a great option if you need a nice price/performance ratio - however, there are cheaper options. The R4225 is overkill.
Take a look at the Compaq V2000Z, it's a 14" widescreen, well balanced mobility and power.

Re: Compaq Presario R4225CA vs Toshiba M70-SR3
I have the HP zv6000 which is the twin of the Compaq R4000 and I am very happy with it. Bear in mind they are on the heavy side and may be too heavy if your friend is going to be lugging it around a lot. Also, you may want to look at hpshopping.ca to see if you can find anything there less expensive than on futureshop. Anyway, good luck!
