I agree, but apparently a concensus hasn't yet been reached. Look

I would PROBABLY also say over 15 is too big, but i have a 17 and it doesnt bother me much, other than the fact that the entire carrying case with the pc and everything i haul in it is about 20 pnds

Isn't it inconvenient to carry around all day and fit in airline overhead storage compartments? How much does the laptop weight?
Answer:
Re: Gaming laptop portability limits
The laptop itself is about 8 pnds i think. the bulk of the weight in my case is my power cord, chill mat, 250 bucks of games, laptop manual, mouse, and ethernet cord. I dont usually go on all day marathons walkin around with it, ive taken it around school a few times, but definately not every day. mostly i take it to friends houses for LAN parties

The reason I asked, is if I am on vacation or traveling, I carry the laptop with me, versus leaving it in a hotel room.

Re: Gaming laptop portability limits
ah, well in that case a 17 inch is probably too big for that. I have a number of friends that have 15 inch laptops that carry them around wherever they go without a problem.
as for weight, most 15 inch notebooks arent more then 7-8 pounds if ever that, and even that isnt bad as long as your not weighed down by a lot of other things.

Yeah, I agree. Don't get a 17" laptop if you are going to travel.
I have a heavy 15.4" notebook. The size is, in my opinion, pushing the limits of portability on a daily basis.
I think 15" is ideal for travel if you want decent gaming power. Check out the Quanta MW1.

I also have a heavy 15.4" (Z60M - I believe about 7.7 lbs). For what it's worth, I'm not bothered by its weight for two reasons:
1) I only use a backpack - will not consider any sort of shoulder bag.
2) Even the difference between just, say, a 6-pounder and an 8-pounder is 33%. Now factor in a backpack (3 Lbs), a charger (1 lb), a 24-oz. water bottle, books, etc.; you're looking at 15-17 pounds on a schoolday. The difference between a 13-pound backpack and a 15-pound backpack amounts to a 15.4%(yeah, I know) increase. Not a huge deal, IMO.
My understanding, though, is that usable space is a bit cramped for anything over 14".
Best,
Howie
