so far, i think the lg is the best so far, but not sure about the video card.
how much can teh video card handle compared to the ati x200?

Re: difficult decision
The GMA900 is terrible for 3D work, the X200M is a lot faster.
If you want to run 3D modeling programs. . . depends on how much rendering you are going to do, etc, but I would still say that an integrated card will not perform that well.
Not sure if it fits your budget, but check out the Dell Precision Mobile Workstation M20 with the 64MB ATI FireGL video card, which is optimized for 3D rendering.

Re: difficult decision
well 3d cad is not really 3d modelling. It's basically just putting 3d shapes together.
and what about the intel 900 3d chipset adn teh x200
how do they compare?
is there much difference between ddr 333, ddr 400 and ddr II (533)?
just how much can the gma900 handle?

Re: difficult decision
Well, the Intel 900 = GMA900 if you mean graphics. The X200M is considerably faster, actually has the core of a graphics card.
There is not much of a difference between DDR2-533 and DDR400 from a performance standpoint - DDR400 might actually be a bit faster. There is a noticable difference between DDR333 and DDR400 though. About 15% overall.
I'd spring for the Compaq if that fits your needs.
One more thing to keep in mind is future-proofing your notebook - Windows Vista - in order to run the graphical 3D interface, the X200M is the minimum that can handle it - the GMA900 won't cut it.

How's a 13.3" display? Take a look at the Fujitsu S2110:
Beautiful design, weighs only 4 lbs. Plus, an awesome display.
