Ok, so it's between a HP Pavilion dv5054 and an Acer 1642 WLMI....
General Questions
1) What is your budget? Hard to answer because I live in Norway....8500KR
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
a. Ultraportable; 12" screen or less
b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen-------------> 15.4
d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook? Watching DVDs, surfing, light gaming (ms.pacman etc...)
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk? Mostly we will be home with it...but sometimes it may travel with us.
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games? Old school video games...ancient games like frogger, Dig-dug, Bubble Bobble etc...
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? Well, it's between Acer and HP
7) How many hours of battery life do you need? doesn't matter---as much as possible I suppose...I will be buying an extra battery.
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person? I don't mind.
9) What country are you buying this in? Norway

HP dv5000z looks great - nice design, very solidly built, plus a beautiful BrightView screen. The Turion processor will be able to handle all of what you are doing, and the X200M will be more than enough for Frogger and the like (I ran that on my ancient 8MB ATI Rage 128 :D).
I've had both HP's and Acer notebooks in the past. HP has better designs/quality and nicer screens IMO, and better service. Acer is not a bad brand at all though.
