Re: help me pick........ please and THANK YOU
Your budget leaves you open to an extremely large set of options. For some preliminary thoughts, I'm tempted to suggest the following:
-15-15.4" (for battery life, portability, and a large screen)
-Either SXGA or WXGA (because of your eyesight - I'm in the same boat)
-Matte screen

The Dell E1705 Is a great laptop too. Just be sure to get it with a 2.0Ghz Duo CPU, 1GB RAM, 80 7200 RPM, Go 7800, DVD +/-. Its a great price after the $650 off. You can get it for well under 2k with an awesome configeration. I would also recommend getting a 3 year warranty.

Re: help me pick........ please and THANK YOU
Try the Sager 5720. This has the NVIDIA 7800 GTX as an option. Not realistic to think you will get 8 hours with any large laptop with this type of GPU. You are looking at more like 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a machine like this.
