I would recommend the Turion if you need a 64 bit processor, and the HP dv5000z can be customized with a Turion and much bigger hard drive and RAM for the same price. I don't think that the Mayhem has a very good reputation from what I have heard.

That system is getting phased out, hence the price. The 9700 is getting a little long in the tooth, anyway. If you want something a lot more capable within that price range, look for the Acer Travelmate 4402.
