Re: Gaming Machines under 6 lbs
The V6va is the best choice but it's not widescreen. 5.4lbs, 1.1 inch thick, x700.
With the travelers drawer, the ASUS Z70va barely hits 5.9lbs
edit: I completely forgot about the 14" line, the ASUS W3v, Compal EFL30 are good options, 14" with x600.
If you can wait, perhaps the ASUS W3j, 14" x1600

The W3j as coriolis mentioned is my recommendation as well. Can't beat that for performance. Should be avaliable sometime in March.

Re: Gaming Machines under 6 lbs
IF i am not worng the MSI 1029 is 5.8 lb, and features a ATI X700.
There´s also a new release in 2 weeks from MSI (1039), wich will "probably" have the same weight, as it is just an upgrade.
Here´s the description for the MSI - 1039 description:
- 15.4" - WSXGA
- TURION 64 - MT - 44 - 2.4 ghz 1mb l2 - 25W (Mt-44 is expected in june)
- 2GB DDR 400
- ATI X1600 - with 256mb
- 1.3m pixel webcam (embeded)
- Wi-Fi card + bluetooth
- Dual Layer DVD-RW
- battery 4800mAH (~10% more than compaq? + low voltage of the MT series - hope it lasts 3.5 hours)
- Price? U$ 1.400???? (the 1029 with atix700/MT-36 i can buy for U$ 1200.00)

Re: Gaming Machines under 6 lbs
For right now... I would say the Sony SZ series notebooks are the best for small gamming laptops. The Sony SZ is really light and has quite a powerful GO 7400 GPU. 13.3" screen. Several lbs under 6. ;)

Re: Gaming Machines under 6 lbs
Just have in mind that the price i sugested in first: my guess, and second, it doens´t come fully loaded, something fully loaded will be around U$ 1800 (2gb, lastest turion cpu, 80gb hd, and OS sytem/windows)
But, in my case i can upgrade it later, that´s why I think that 1400 would be the basic price.
check the price at www.rawpowerpc.com for you to have an idea.

Re: Gaming Machines under 6 lbs
hmm the sony is an option but i think id rather sacrifice .7" of my lap for the x1600.

Re: Gaming Machines under 6 lbs
and here i thought my requirements were tough.
well as long as a bunch of people are checking on this thread and im too lazy to start a new thread, i have a question.
for all the desktop replacements, Why not make the LCD swivel around so you can game with your external mouse and keyboard with the keyboard behind the LCD or watch movies without the keyboard in between you and the screen. actually, why doesnt every notebook have a frikn swivel LCD?
