Compaq presario 5043
Hi
I've bought this laptop and got a few problems with it:
My hardrive is very noisy (its probably because of its speed 4200rpm).
I know its slow so im upgrading it to Hitachi 7200rpm
But is it normal for it to be so noisy (every time i turn it on it makes this horrible noise) also when i try to access something it does it (or install).
This laptop is three days old and it has a dead pixel already (is it normal or should i change it?)
My last question is how do i get into bios (i've tried F1,F2,F3,DEL) but nothing helps. I would like to turn off processors power saving (its AMD Turion 1.8Ghz but it runs at 800Mhz).

If you think it is noisy ask HP to send you a new one. Dead/Stuck pixels are common. You can try the dead pixel fixer. Probably your only option is to return it. Set the power option to Home/Office in control panel.

Yea... I'd return it. A brand new computer shouldn't be noisy or have any dead / stuck pixels.

Yeh but all this hastle to go through.
Duno i thought its because of the slow hard drive (all this noise) as i said its 4200 rpm's and its no worry casue ill swap it for hitachi 7200rpms that should do?
as you said dead pixels are common so it shouldnt be a problem than?

You should swap the drive then ask HP to send you a new one. You can throw the old case in for extra storage or backups. Making LCDs is not a perfect process. Dead/stuck pixels are common. It is only a problem if it bothers you. It drives some people insane. My laptop doesn't have any, but my two desktop monitors do. I only see them when the screen is black so it doesn't bother me much.

well i've bought my from Dixons (its well known UK shop).
so i wont send it ill come and swap it for another one (same).
I dont think compaq would send me a new hard drive (4200rpms) is still very slow :(
its a brand new laptop and there shouldnt be any dead pixels(i've found it the same day i bought it, well opened the box)

cause when its in iddle (hdd still does something) i wouldnt say that its very loud but when i deleted large files you could hear it from a distance i'd say that its speed issue because it too slow and it cant do tasks fast enough?
