Re: Gaming laptop
On the bigger side and somthing with great performance, the Dell E1705 is a good choice with the 7800 Go it's a beast!
In the 15.4" range there is the HP DV4000 with the X700 as well as the DV5000 with the Core duo and the Go 7400.
Then on the smaller end. The Asus W3j is comming out soon and it will run around $1800 with a killer X1600 GPU. There are also bigger Asus notebooks with good GPU's.
With the Dell and Hp, it will be under your budget for sure...

Re: Gaming laptop
From what I understand the GeForce Go 7400 is a mid range graphic card. If your serious about gaming and want the best that is out there right now you should go for the X1600 ati or the 7800 gforce. The 7400 is surely a capable card for playing games but people say its even below the x700 which is available in systems. It all depends on the performance your looking for. Are you looking for the top performance graphic cards right now or are you willing to settle for middle of the road?

Re: Gaming laptop
I'd get something with better qualtiy than a Dell at $2k. The Go7400 is a terrible card if you want to play those games - very limited because it is underpowered and has low memory bandwidth (64-bit bus kills performance).
An excellent fit for your needs is the Sager NP-5720, I'd give that a look. www.powernotebooks.com is a nice place to order from, I got my Sager there. Excellent service.
Another notebook to wait for is the MSI-1039 with a 15.4" display and 256MB X1600. The dual-core version of the Sager 5720 is coming out soon, I posted about it in the Sager forum.

Re: Gaming laptop
I think the Dell E1505 (17" too big for me) would be awesome if only they offered the 7800 option on it like with the E1705. Maybe they will someday, and with the -$750 deal you could get one helluva machine. Can anyone really compete with Dell's pricing?
