Re: comparing speeds of notebooks to desktops
A conservative rule of thumb when dealing with Pentium M's is to apply a 1.5 to 1.7 multiplier to arrive at the equivalent Pentium 4 (many use 1.8, but I prefer to err on the lower end).
As, clock for clock, Turions and Pentium M's are pretty comparable, I would say this multiplier should be pretty accurate for AMD's mobile processor as well.

is there a list anywhere? When Anandtech did their initial comparisons of the Core Duo, they used P-M and Athlon 64 X2 as benchmarks. The test were run late-Dec`05. A week later Geeks.com compiled Anand's test results into very revealing tables. I posted those here see this .
Bottom line: The Core Duo is one-for-one with a A64 X2 GHZ to GHz. The P-M is ~30% less.
