Re: Gaming Laptop
Greetings, thanks for doing the FAQ.
I recommend the HP nx9420 - it's a 17" business notebook with a 256MB X1600 - that will be excellent for gaming. You can find it here on HP's Small Business website:

Re: Gaming Laptop
Thanks CHaz. I checked the Graphics card section and see that the x1600 is the new version of the x700. How does the x1600 compare with the 6800 and 7800.
Answer:
Re: Gaming Laptop
The X1600 is very close in performance to the Go6800, and it runs much cooler. The Go7800 is ahead of the X1600 naturally, better for gaming. But, the X1600 is really an impressive card, doesn't require a big cooling solution.
If I had to choose between the Dell E1705 and the Go7800 (is that even offered right now?) and the HP nx9420 with the X1600, I'd go with the HP because it is better built, better design and superior service + warranty.
Answer:
Re: Gaming Laptop
No the 7800 is not in the e1705 which is the problem. I wanted to use the coupon and bring it into my price range and ger the 7800. Right now they have the x1400 in it. No one can give a straight answer as to what is going on either.
Anyway I really want to not short myself on the video card because I know they are either not able to be upgraded or are hard to upgrade. The other things like Hard drive, processor and memory can always be upgraded later(I think).
Answer:
Re: Gaming Laptop
Yes, it is very easy to upgrade the memory and hard drive yourself. That is what I normally do with my laptops. Buy the CPU you want from the place you are getting it, because if you install it yourself, that voids the warranty.
I believe Dell has run out of stock of the Go7800's - they stopped offering it as an option a few days ago. The demand has been quite high.

Re: Gaming Laptop
I am not buying the laptop for another 1-3 weeks. I am wondering if Dell will get the 7800 back in so I can get one? Oblivion is going to take a laptop with balls to run and look good at the same time. I am just hoping I can get one in my price range.
