How long do you think the go 6600 w/ 256MB and the x1600 will be good for playing the new games?

well if they are almost maxing out now at high settings like Fear, i'd say a year. Now if you mean good as in medium settings two years. The rate at which video cards go obsolete is absurd. This is why i stay away from complete gaming laptops, it's an expensive endless cycle.

the x1600 is a better card. it will last you longer b/c it is a better performer. not to mention that it is a newer breed of card so it might have support for the newer pixel shader and what not (not completely sure though)

hard to say really.
in a year your x1600 will be like a x600 is today. in 3 years it probably wont even be compatible for low function. in 4 years it definitely wont be.
