3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
Gaming, Surfing, Burning cds, Taking notes.
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
To university
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
CS:S, BF2, HL2, CoD2, (bf 2142 and ut 2007 in the future) x1400/7400 would be fine
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? Asus, Averateck, quanta, all this stuff out due to availavility in mexico.
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
at least 2.5 i think
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

DVD-R would be great
So far my choises are the acer 5672 (available in spain), Acer 3280, and thats it. I want international warranty if i buy it in spain (so, sony excluded because the only model here in mexico its about 3000 usd) and a warranty extension if possible.

If you can get it where you are, the ASUS S96j and its various rebrandings are your best bets.

lol i dont think there are any asus rebrandings in mexico. I can get it on spain, but i dont want to, because of the warranty

How about the Toshiba M100? That's under $1,400 with a Core Duo and ATI Radeon X1400 128MB. Has a 14" display and is under six pounds.
