Did fresh XP install...now Pentium-M is sloooow
Am I missing a driver or something?
I noticed my 2M PI calc was horribly slow. I went to system properties and notice that my clock speed is 595MHZ with a 1.73ghz chip.
Any ideas?
Does speedstep have anything to do with it? If so, whats it supposed to look like when you install? I get 1 simple box with a status bar that completes and thats it. No setup box and nothing to indicate that it installed correctly.

With Notebook Hardware control I was able to bump it up to 1300mhz (9x). it SHOULD be 13x at 1700mhz...bleh

Yes but you'll get better battery life at 600Mhz and you dont need more for surfing the net.

SpeedStep will throttle the Pentium M down to 600Mhz when it's under light load to conserve battery life. The speed should increase if you do something which requires a lot of processing power.

Yes... look into the battery properties... does it run at 600Mhz when its unplugged or plugged in? I have seen where if your running on battery it will reduce the clock speed of your CPU giving you some extra time... But there is no reason for it to be running at 600 Mhz when its plugged in. If thats the case perhaps try to go into the BIOS and adjust the CPU speed and **** frequency multiplyers to make it a 1.73 Ghz.

No need to go to BIOS. If you set Always On in the Power Options the CPU will run at max speed all the time. This will increase its temperature, decrease battery life and eventually shorten the life of the notebook probably.
