graduation + $$$ = first notebook

Question:
graduation + $$$ = first notebook
hey, i'm graduating high school and of course this means a large chunk of money coming in, how better to spend all of it plus my savings, then all on my first notebook. I have looked around and I am looking mainly gaming for the laptop but also for college. I am going into computer science so I figure my parents won't be too mad when I tell them I am looking to spend from $2,300 - $3,000 on a notebook. I was just wondering if anyone could give their ideas on laptops and such (tech specs, intel or amd, ram 1g or should i spend that xtra on 2g,, or just go with a xps notebook) that will be good for gaming and for the less important stuff like college.
thanks :D

for that amount of dough you can get almost anything,
why not fill out the FAQ to see what you want.
In my opinion a 17" is not suitable for college, its simply not portable. I would also recomend to look at sager (pctorque.com) and asus (proportable.com) as two brands to choose from.

The Sager 5760 and the XPS M1710 are things to look at
Right now, for Core duo and gaming options, those are the top notebooks...with bragging rights included :D

it has a carbon fiber body and magnesium lid. its light.
Its performance in gpu with the x1600 is not like the sager 5670 though. it just looks cool and durable.
