House robbed, help please with replacement gaming laptop

Question:
House robbed, help please with replacement gaming laptop
Hi thanks for taking a look at this. My house got broke into over the weekend, and i lost about $20,000 in stuff combined. I lost my Gateway 7510 gx laptop, my 3.2 gig tower with 3 gigs of ram and a 6800 ultra with a 23" monitor. I lost a lot of other stuff but that was the main computer stuff i lost.
I would like to find laptop replacement, i will probably do a SLI desktop also, but i would like a laptop that i can play world of warcraft and future games on.
I have looked at the Dell site some, Alienware, ibuypower, and Sager so far. But i hear you guys are the pro's here and this was the best place to come for help. I would like to try to stay at under 2k, so if you guys can give me some advice and options i would really appreciate it.
Thanks

I heavily reccomend you to NOT consider Alienware, especially since you can get the same laptop elsewhere, sans the paint job and a few hundred bucks.
7900 limits you only to 17" and 19" models and a few one at that. Check out the Sager 5760

you can also check out the dell e1705. not as nice as the sager, but it will cost cheaper with the dell coupon codes.

That Sager is pretty nice, i see no OS was installed at that price so another 70 bucks no big deal.
Should i upgrade the processor from DUO 1.66?
Where do i find the coupons for the e1705? I imagine it will take 14 to 30 days at least to get anything settled with my insurance.
Any big difference in going intel over amd right now other then personal prefernce?
Thanks for the help so far!

Re: House robbed, help please with replacement gaming laptop
you should also check the 5760 at powernotebooks.com. it comes with the 1.83 ghz in the base price and costs the same amount. although the 1.66 is sufficient for most, unless you are doing a lot of video encoding or something intensive like that (not gaming), the cpu clock isn't going to effect your gaming performance a lot. the 1.83 ghz has the best performance/price ratio.
the coupon codes can be found on a tab at the top of the website. the core duo far outperforms the turion right now, so for performance i would stick with the core duo. even the turion x2 coming out supposedly doesn't stack up. plus, it won't be coupled with a good gpu for another few months.

Dell coupons are available hear at computer-notebook.com its right next to the Notebook Forum tab. :) Dell is the most economic system you could get with your specs. try looking at the e1705 and use the $750 off coupon and you can customize yourself a pretty nice gaming rig. Also consider the the ASUS S96J.

As for your question about intell versus amd? Nothing right now that I now that is available is beter the the core duo processors from intel. If you wait a few months Amd is releasing a new mobile processor I believe. Other then that Intel Core Duo is what you should look for! Also sorry to hear you were robbed :(

The sager seems like a pretty great deal. A 7900 gtx and 1 gig ram.
What upgrades would you do to it, and is it worth getting the extended warranty and accidental if they have it? I will probably play vanguard on it in the future so needs to be decent.
Thanks for all the help so far.
