Question:
Dell display
Finally, and thank to you all, I've decided what to buy: Dell Ispiron 6400, Core Duo, 1GB, 80GB 5200, 128MB Video.
Only one spec remains: Display.
Dell offers me two choices besides the standard matte screen: 'XGA with TrueLife' and 'SXGA+ UltraSharp with TrueLIfe'.
Well, tell me if I'm wrong, but Dell's TrueLife is tha same as Hp UltraBrite... isn't it?
Once more I need your opinions, as I've never used a SXGA+ laptop, nor a TrueLife one.
Thanks,
German.

Re: Dell display
I think you mean WXGA and WSXGA+.
WXGA is 1280x800 resolution, which is okay, but doesn't provide crystal clear images. I'd go for the latter, WSXGA+, which gives us a 1680x1050 resolution.
Now there are two types of LCD - matte, and glossy. Put simply, matte is not reflective and glossy is, but glossy gives you much bolder and sharper colours. Personally, I'd go for a glossy screen every time AND the WSXGA+.
So yeah, the TrueLife is Dell's Glossy. Go for the WSXGA+ with Truelife.

Re: Dell display
If you get the SXGA screen and it is too small you can increase the DPI. If you get the XGA and it is too big you are stuck. You should look at some if you can.

Re: Dell display
Sxga vs xga. I wouldnt really worry about the matte or glossy much since in the end of the day, its the resolution that actually matters. Go look at 1280x800 and 1680x1050. See which one you like more. Its true that 1680x1050 can be adjusted to 1280x800, but it will look unsharp and sometime ugly. The default resolution is aways the sharpest. So dont worry about matte or glossy, go with the resolution that you are most comfortable with and the one you like.

Re: Dell display
Shadow is right choose what you prefer but as for me I prefer sxga due to the improved quality and I don't mind the smaller text etc.

Re: Dell display
Thanks for your answers, but I'm still stuck in here...
Dell doesn't have a showroom or sales office here in Argentina, they ship it directly from their offices in the US. So, there's no way to take a look at the notebook before buying... this is why I'm bothering you all so much!! :p
Then, I'll ask if anyone could post an image of how a WXGA (1200 * 800), a WSXGA running in 1650 * 1050 and a WSXGA running in 1200 * 800 look like.
Thanks a lot!
