Eye Strain Pain

Question:
Eye Strain Pain
I just got a new laptop, and I must say the native resolution looks great, but kills the eyes [17"monitor(1440x900)]. On my desktop computer I keep the resolution low[19"monitor(800x600)] in windows, just so it is easier on the eyes. Even though I have higher end gaming monitor and video card. But when I try to lower the resolution on the laptop, well lets just say it looks pretty crappy.
Is there a guide somewhere as to how to adjust things in windows to make all icons and text look larger and good? I can adjust a few things but it still doesn't look that great. I can make some fonts larger, but they need to be bolder.
Thanks.

Re: Eye Strain Pain
I can make some fonts larger, but they need to be bolder. Do the following:
Control Panel->Display->Appearance->Advanced and then select the Item ("Icon", for example), and choose "B" to bold it. You can also change the font itself and its size.

Re: Eye Strain Pain
Thanks. That helped with most of the small fonts, but is there a way to change the fonts in some programs and message windows, that are not listed in the drop down menu, mentioned by SpacemanSpiff? Thanks.
