look at the Acer Aspire series computers, they tend to be cheap and have alot of muscle under the lid
also look at dell' they are good priced and powerful as well

The only thing i dont like about Dell is that in the 15 inch e1505 the highest upgrade is the x1400..I actually have a e1505 right now but I'm returning it because of the light leakage problems. And my only problem with the s96j is the low res screen and price compared to Dell

unfortunately, for your price range, you cannot have both wsxga and the x1600. for a bit more, you can afford the asus z96j which has a wsxga screen and the x1600.

Yeah, go with either the Z96J or the S96J if you need an X1600.

Note, the more cheaper it is, usually, don't expect the best service. It's always you get what you pay for.
In saying that, try www.geared2play.com , the guys there service everything themselves and their prices are among the lowest.

also, powernotebooks.com and gentechpc.com have been mentioned as good sellers. however, be warned, the s96j is backordered at almost all resellers. you may have to wait awhile to get one.
