Re: Help Me Out I Feeled Out Faq
Thanks for completing our FAQ, we appreciate that.
HP and Acer don't have any notebooks in the $1k-1.5k price range with anything more than a GeForce Go7400 or ATI Radeon X1400; both are midrange cards that while capable, will struggle in FEAR and newer games especially.
Take a look at the Asus S96J. It is a very good notebook for the money, much better built than Acer/HP:

The Mobility Radeon X1600 is about twice as powerful as the Go7400/X1400.

Re: Help Me Out I Feeled Out Faq
correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure you can get an Acer 5672 with an upgrade to an X1600 and are also in the right price range http://www.nextag.com/Acer-NB-DC1-66...RE-PRICES-html not that i'm saying there is anything wrong with the S96J, it sounds to be an awesome machine from what everyone says, just trying to straighten things out

Re: Help Me Out I Feeled Out Faq
Looks like Acer has upgraded the 5670 model series to the X1600 in the states - very nice. At $1,200, that's a near unbeatable deal. Thanks for bringing that up.

Re: Help Me Out I Feeled Out Faq
Just a couple of thoughts on the two models you listed. I would avoid 4200 RPM drives, which in my experience perform very poorly. I'd also consider going with a dual core, either Intel's Core Duo or the Turion X2, though you'd probably have to wait a little for the X2 options to be better. As it is, the Acer 5672, which can often be had for $1000 to $1100, looks pretty good, and I think there are some models that come with the x1600.
