HP Pavilion Dv5000t or Dell Inspiron 6400

Question:
HP Pavilion Dv5000t or Dell Inspiron 6400
Dear members,
I'v finally narrowed down my selection to two and they are HP Pavilion Dv5000t(1.66Duo) and Dell Inspiron 6400(1.66Duo). Here's the reference of my filled FAQ .
Now i want you guys to recommend me to go for which laptop, esp i request those who owned these 2 laptops. They are almost same price and configuration wise, the only difference i found is that HP is more stylish and has extra slots as well.
regards
faraz

I would go with the HP because:
1)I own a variant of the dv5000t, the dv5163cl,but it's the same series so you shouldn't be seeing any differences.
2)Rock-solid build quality
3)Really decent laptop speakers.
4)Looks defenitely better than the Dell
It does everything that you want to do(according to your FAQ).

I'll second the HP recommendation - better design and build quality.
Go to Best Buy and take a look at the HP in person. The keyboard is excellent and it is a very solid notebook with no flex.
The Dell will probably give you better price/performance, but as far as ownership experience goes, I would stick to HP - I had a better experience with them vs. Dell.

Hp dropped the price of dv5000t a lot compared to the time I purchased my E1505(2 months ago).
The only big plus on E1505 is that you can choose a higher resolution.
To be honest, if dv5000t was as cheap as now I would probably go for hp because of the pc card slot(the only thing I hate about my E1505).

I haven't done any strenuous tasks on my HP - mainly it's not mine per se. But I have used it quite a bit and it's really quiet and hasn't given any heat issues at all - the palmrest is warm at the most.

The dv5000 can get warm, but I wouldn't say hot. The metal rim around the Expansion Port 2 gets hot but that's because it's metal. Also, undervolting and power management profiles help with the heat.

Hey z5sharp... i was looking into this hp laptop, actually the HP Pavilion dv5139us from circuit city, i was going to buy it this weekend until i heard a problem. Basically the same thing as what you have and the only problem i'm hearing is about the video card, do u play graphic intensive games and if you do, any problems? I love everything about that notebook except what i have been hearing on here about the graphics. thanks

The GeForce Go7400 with turbocache performs very similar to the X1400 and it should be good enough to play the latest game at medium settings.

smocan: No, I don't do any intensive gaming but I did buy this notebook for engineering at Penn State so I believe it has the power to run CAD-type programs with the 128MB card. If I had intended on gaming, I probably would have gotten the dv5000t or another model. Hope that helps!
