I'd go with the Core Duo Compals or the Asus available at www.powernotebooks.com since they are the only durable ones having an X1600 or the 7600Go that your gaming needs demand. As far as I know the Asus is on back order.

by how much will it exceed the budget? It's worth it if it's like say 100-150.

Just did some research, and the hp looks great, but way to expensive if it where in my budget i would consider butying it thx ZaZ. Also what does "discrete video memory" mean? is it shared or dedicated.
Also look into the 5750 not to pleased with the graphics card, it is a 128mb with shared memory. Is there any other sager out there besided the 5760 i could look into.

There's still these:
Compal EL80
PowerPro A 2:24 based on the Asus S96J
The 7600 and the X1600 perform similarly, but I'd prefer the X1600.But on teh downside,it's still on backorder,so you'd have to wait a while to get it. A review on the S96J.

if you are willing to up your budget a little ($100), then the portableone mx (asus a8jm) would be an option. also, the compal hgl30 is another one to keep your eye out for. it is a barebones 14" with the 7600go
