700m vs ms-1022?

Question:
700m vs ms-1022?
I was looking at the dell 700m and it can be configured with 2ghz, 80 hdd, 1gb ram and a similar configuration to the ms-1022 configured with 40gb hdd, 1.86ghz, 1gb ram.
It ends up being $1307 with $400 discount compared to $1301 for the msi from rawpower.com. I need a reason to choose the msi over the dell. My dad wants me to get the dell but too many people have it and the MSI has a dedicated graphics card. Help me. Also, what would you choose or recommend?
dell has 80gb hdd vs 40gb hdd for msi
msi has bluetooth
msi is 1.86ghz vs 2ghz dell
msi has dedicated graphics
That's as far as I got.

Re: 700m vs ms-1022?
Well, the 700m has a 12.1" screen, the 1022 has a 14". That's a point for MSI in my opinion. The build quality will be a little better with the MSI as well.
I would, and am in a couple days, take the MSI. But in your case I would take the RAM down to either 256 or 512, and if you need the extra (if you get the 256) you can pick it up aftermarket from a retailer (Newegg). If you do that you can kick the HD up a few GBs, because 40gb is pretty small these days.
You won't see a huge performance increase between 1.86 and 2.0, but it depends on what you do. After using NHC for a few days I found out that I can run my machine at 600mhz for most of what I do during the day. So for me the extra price isn't of much use.
Good luck in your search!

I second the msi-1022. The 700m has a smaller than standard keyboard which is nearly impossible to type on. However, I disagree with ttupa about ram, go for the gig if you can afford it (do not go below 512). Harddrive size is personal preference.

Hmm...
Do you have any family in the US? My uncle's from Canada (BC) and he comes down every year and just recently bought his notebook here.

brrip, what are you going to be using the notebook for? Perhpas fill out the FAQ. If you want somthing very small and quite light the dell 700m is going to be smaller then the MSI. And if your not a gammer, or don't run any 3D editing programs, the GPU really doesn't matter. The Intel GPU runs fine for basic tasks, and light gamming.

Re: 700m vs ms-1022?
I just said go with 256 and upgrade aftermarket, OR stick with 512. Most people won't see a performance increase from 512 to 1g, but from 256 to 512 is a HUGE difference usually. It might be cheaper to go with 512 and use the extra money for a bigger HD. Like I said, 40gb is tiny.
Most places make you buy at least some RAM, so you'd be forced to buy 256, even if (like I said) you wanted to upgrade from another retailer. And that makes tons of sense if you are the one selling the computer in the first place.

I'm going with 1gig of RAM, so I can't talk too much. Memory is cheap, and I want to take advantage of the low prices. However, I have the extra money, some may not.
