graphics card/sys reqs for 3d workstation?
hello,
i want to be cost effective, but i want an adequate system that will last as long as possible.
i was looking into a mobile desktop (putting a desktop in a bag) but if taking into account health concerns and the possibilty of lost luggage, a laptop could be about as cost effective as a desktop for someone who wants to be mobile... please correct me if im wrong :)
so i really want to spend as little as possible for an adequate system for 3d/graphic design/web design work, i think the main concern is the 3d since anything that can do 3d, in my understanding, shoudl bea ble to do the others just fine.
i personally prefer as small a laptop as i can get, i currently have a dv1000 14inch with intel extreme graphics 2 from hp, my understanding is that intel extreme graphics 2 isnt adequate for 3d wrok? (i am not interested in a system that can play games, but in one for 3d modeling/animation/etc)
i would prefer to get a smaller laptop, however cost effectiveness is important, if the lowest priced and adequate computer is bigger then thats what id get.
havnt gotten fully into 3d yet, currently will be using blender, if i come to a point when i dont feel that is enough ill probably go with XSI or C4d for the lower prices (c4d lower price because of being able to get hair module, instead of spending 5000+ dollars for hair which i dont think is even close to worth it)
not really sure what an adequate system would be, as i said i dont care about gaming and i also dont carea bout top of the line surround sound etc. i care about an adequate system for 3d, not a top of the line deluxe kind of deal, but an adequate one (cost effictiveness)
my understanding is the main concern would be the graphics card.
i dont know if the gma900 or 200m's are enough or how those differ from the intel extreme graphics 2 i already have?
any info would be nice

at the top of the Hardware forum is a "What Should I Buy" questionnaire. it's to help focus your actual needs. fill it out and post it here or a new thread and you'll get some good suggestions.
