Question:
AW Vs. Dell
I would like some advice here. I want a computer that can handle most games but it dosent need to be a absolutely top of line expensive machine. I first looked at the Alienware area 51 m5700. Now before anyone says anything I saw all the feedback about them being a bad and overpriced company. I didnt think the pricing was too bad for the computer I configured. Here it is
http://alienware.com/Configurator_Pa...de=SKU-DEFAULT
Here is the Dell Inspiron 9300 I configured, Comes to 1600 AW is 1800. Which one should I go for? The thing that jumps out at me is the 100GB HD for dell and the 80 GB for AW, but that one is a RAID.
AW
Intel® Pentium® M 740 1.73GHz 2MB L2 Cache 533MHz FSB
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 533MHz - 2 x 512MB
80GB (40GB x 2) 5400 RPM SATA
256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 6800
Dell
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
100GB 5400rpmHard Drive
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
And the Dell XPS 170 is 2399 but the inspiron I configured is better from what I understand, whats the deal?

Re: AW Vs. Dell
I personally would go for the Dell - much less hardware breakdowns and much better service than AW. I've heard some pretty nasty stories about AW and their hardware breaking down and their careless tech support.

Re: AW Vs. Dell
Yeah I heard that to, one thing I do like about AW is the no payments for 6 months with the AW credit card I was approved for. Do you think that Inspiron notebook is comparable to the XPS?
Answer:
Re: AW Vs. Dell
I with the 6800 Go Ultra, sure, the I9300 is comparable, but if the XPS has the 7800 GTX, then no, it's not. However, you can install the 7800 GTX into your I9300 if you have proper cooling and if you really want to do so. Note that installing the 7800 GTX into your I9300 will void its warranty.

What's your budget?
I'd look into the Sager NP-5720.

The XPS I compared it with had the GeForce 6800 as well.

?
no, they are over priced. If you may not know, Alienware does NOT produce their own notebook, rather, they customize it. Take a look at the thread I compiled of Boutique gaming rigs and their respective ODMs
once you find out who their ODM is, you can go search other resellers and compare prices.. you will find that it is generally cheaper elsewhere. I second Chazman's recomendation on the Sager 5720, it has a Pentium M processor, is much thinner than the two, and has a better and newer GPU.

Re: AW Vs. Dell
I would get that PC but it may be out of my price range. Im looking for something more in the range of 1500 to 1900.
Also the Dell comes with the Pentium M processor. The Sager 5720 is too expensive and the next lowest model comes with the ATI graphics card, I would like to have the Nvidia. I believe i may just go with the Dell after all. I cant beat the price for what im getting, only thing Im missing out on from the Sager is the Geforce 7800 card, which I dont really need.

Re: AW Vs. Dell
Then the i9300 is for you. With Dell's coupons, you can get it down to about $1300, just go light on the RAM
Answer:
Re: AW Vs. Dell
I would take the Dell over the Alienware - many more features for your money. Plus, with the coupons, the price is unbeatable.
For best performance, get the 7200RPM hard drive.
