Gaming laptop for under $1500?

Question:
Gaming laptop for under $1500?
As the title suggests, I am looking for a laptop that can play the latest shooter games and my budget is $1500.
Can it be done? and if so, then what do you recommend?
Thanks

On the high side of your budget, a Asus Z71v with the 6600 go card would be a nice fit. If you want to spend less the HP dv4000 with the x700 is a good option. The Asus will offer better build quality, the HP a little easier on the wallet and the x700 is a little better than the 6600. Good Luck.

What about this?
Inspiron 9300 (N12936)
Intel ®Pentium ®M Processor 750 (1.86 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB), Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition, SP2
costs about $1300

Yeah, the i9300 is a good idea, that's what I was about to suggest. You can skimp in some aras to get the better video card.

My MS-1029 was about 1300 all in, including OS, shipping, and a BT mouse. Gaming wise, it's great. I can run anything that's out today. Screen works well too, no ghosting and the brightness is good.
Now I did build this myself from a barebones kit. You can get them prebuilt from many companies for a little more. You would have no problems staying under $1500.
Specs:
Turion MT-37 (2.0ghz)
1024 OCZ Ram
60GB 5400 RPM HDD
ATI x700 128 onboard/128 shared

I second the HP DV4000. You can get it with ATI x700 fairly well spec'd out for between $1200-$1300. There has been a recent review of this one by Togus on this site. It will give you some more information. Just make sure you get the one with the ATI x700 rather than the Intel Integrated.

Thanks guys.
Another important feature that I forgot to mention is that I need a laptop with very good wi-fi range. I am moving to a place that has no phone line so whilst the phone line is being installed I could do with tapping into some wi-fi hotspots, the greater the range the greater my chances are.
So a gaming laptop with excellent wi-fi range for under $1500? do the above two laptops fulfill those needs?

Most laptops have a few hundred yards range but there is no guarantee you would be able to get anything with any laptop. Also, bear in mind that it could be illegal tapping into someone else's wi-fi.

The best price/performance laptop for that amount of money is the Inspiron 9300, period. The 256MB Go6800 is about 30% faster than the Radeon X700. However, keep in mind that the i9300 is a huge beast, not travel friendly in the least.
If you want something smaller, you could check out the Sager NP-3880 - www.PowerNotebooks.com has them. 15.4" display, 128MB Go6600.
Other than that, my vote would go the HP dv4000. Great combination of performance and quality. I have never had a bad experience with an HP. :)
