I really need this notebook to be portable, i haven't quite got the money for an ultra-portable notebook, so something small-ish, light-ish with a good battery would be best...

Thanks for completing our FAQ, helps a lot. :)
I'd take a look at the Fujitsu S2110 if you can get it:

If that's not avaliable, then I would take a look for an Acer TravelMate 3000 series or HP dv1000.
Let us know your thoughts on those. :)

Re: hmm... which laptop...
wow, thanks man,
That fujitsu sounds really good, only problem is i can't seem to find it anywhere...
that ACER sounds good aswell, pushing the budget a bit tho...
and don't really like the sound of the 256 ram in the HP...
also, i've been reccommended to get a notebok with dedicated graphics... does it really matter that much? i mean, most of the time i will only be running photoshop and microsoft office... and probobly the occasional game now and then, nothing to high spec tho...
thanks for the reply,
derek

Re: hmm... which laptop...
If you aren't doing anything that involves 3D graphics, then it doesn't matter if you have integrated or shared graphics. On a limited budget, you will probably be stuck with integrated. Not that it's a bad thing in your case. They do run cooler and consume much less power than a dedicated card.
Don't forget - you can always upgrade the RAM yourself aftermarket, it's cheaper. I would recommend doing that.
Take a look at a Fujitsu Amilo - they make pretty good notebooks.
I'm not sure how much the ThinkPad Z60T is over in the UK, but definitely check that out.

Re: hmm... which laptop...
That laptop's graphics card wont play age of empires too well

Re: hmm... which laptop...
AoE III has fairly low graphic requirements, it still plays on onboard graphics, just pretty low resolution and may lag.

Re: hmm... which laptop...
does it? I haven't tried it on low settings on my desktop, however, with full detail and max resolution with 4x anti aliasing i notice it goes about 20-30fps which is kinda slow but I can easily get used to it

Re: hmm... which laptop...
Hmmm
So "just" enough to play AoE3 hmmm
Latest game graphics card(for AoE3:D ) +moderately good laptop stuff= >800 Pounds (more like >1500 pounds)
So I think you have to get rid of the gaming requirement or raise your budget...

Re: hmm... which laptop...
That HP you posted - it says it has 4X AGP graphics, but I think that is a typo - it should have the Radeon Xpress 200M graphics. The X200M is the best integrated solution avaliable, you should be able to play AOEIII fine on it.
