Thanks for completing the FAQ :)
I'd take a look at the HP dv8000z -

Great quality, nice display - also, the Turion CPU is very powerful. It has two hard drives, so you can get up to 240GB of storage. :)
If you are willing to wait for more notebooks with thew new Intel Core Duo processors, then check out the Fujitsu N6410:

Re: (fao)looking for notebook/video and photo editing advanced
video and photo editing can use all the power you can give them. at least 1 gig of RAM, 2 would probably be better. this might be cheaper to upgrade after you buy a unit than buying pre-installed. same with a hard drive, you will want at least 1 7200 RPM unit for photoshop scratch disc usage. Media Center is more concerned with putting a nice interface on your media for integration with television, etc. nothing you need for photo editing or storage. video and photo editing can consume hard drive space quickly, esp if you save in large formats such as PSD, so if this is your only computer you want a lot of hard drive, and probably external drives for backup.

A glossy screened notebook will work best outside. Something like the Fujitsu n3500 is worth a look. It is well built with a gorgeous glossy screen. You can check it out if you have a CompUSA or Frys nearby although I would recommend buying at PortableOne.com. It only has the x300 card, but without knowing what kind of photo editing you are doing it is hard to say if you'll need it.
