Re: Advice Please
I'd recommend checking out either the ASUS M6va or A6va, although I'm not familiar with the prices on that.

Re: Advice Please
Yes, the Asus is a nice notebook.
Acer has some new models out - check out a few of those.
I'd recommend getting a Radeon X700 or GeForce 6600 graphics card for gaming.

Re: Advice Please
Thanks for the suggestions!
I was actually thinking of a 7600 or x1600 card (how do they compare with each other?). The x700 in particular doesn't seem to be very future-proof, since it doesn't take full advantage of the current dx. Also, shouldn't I get a core duo, now that they're out?
I have been looking at the Acers, in particular the Aspire 5650. I've posted on that part of the forum, but there doesn't seem to be much information on it yet.

So... any further advices?... :)

Re: Advice Please
The 7600 and x1600 are better cards, but a quite a bit more $ in most cases. As for the core duo. It's mostly for multitasking. If your just gamming you shouldn't notice any difference. I would say go for the duo if it doesn't cost much more to upgrade. Otherwise the regular PM's are fine. To me its not worth the $500 on average for a duo machine. But if it only costs $100-200 why not?

Re: Advice Please
Hmm... as long as they stay in budget, I'm definitely going to try to max out the specs on the new laptop. The graphics card in particular. I'm not that much of gamer, but I want to be able to at least check out the newest games.
I've only started researching a couple of weeks ago (and have since found this great site ;) ) and I'm having trouble finding laptops with these new x1k and 7k series.

Re: Advice Please
The Sony FE series is a 15.4 that offers a Go 7400 256MB and the Intel Core Duo Processor's. That seems to be the best gamer and all the rest of what you are looking for.

Re: Advice Please
Wow, that's certainly a sweet looking laptop. How does the go 7400 compare to the x700 or the x1600?

Re: Advice Please
The Go7400 is a mid-range card, an update to the Go6400. Should be a notch under the X700.
