1) What size notebook would you prefer?

2) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
Spreadsheets, document writing, mathematical calculations, web surfing, email, basic games (nothing fancy).
3) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Hopefully I'd like to take it to university with me every day.
4) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
Only basic games. It's not a gaming machine, but I'd still like a dedicated graphics card (just in case...).
5) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
No.
6) How many hours of battery life do you need?
As much as possible. I guess 4-5, preferably more...
7) What is your budget?
$2200.
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
No.
9) What country are you buying this in?
US.
Screen Specifics
10) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

Not really.

At least 2 years.
Notebook Components
14) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB?
Doesn't matter, I'll probably buy the hard drive separately.
15) Do you need a DVD, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-R drive?
I'd like to burn DVD's, but it's not top priority.

ThinkPad T43 would be a good choice. One the the few 14" laptops with a high resolution screen.

Thanks for your post. My minimum is 2.0GHz, so I don't think the T43 will be enough.

For your budget, customised VAIO SZ standard. Add $299 u'll get the premium version with carbon fibre case. Also ASUS W3V is a nice alternative

Asus W3V, I've said enough about it so I won't here.
Nevermind, I can't resist. You get this SEXY bag with it and a wireless mouse.
The screen is just amazing and the keyboard rivals IBM's in my opinion.
The build quality is SOLID and the color of the machine is sexier than her sister, the Z63A.

HP nc6220 and nc6230 are some other 14" with SXGA+ screens. Fujitsu s7020 and Sony BX are some others. Panasonic is another, but probably beyond your budget.
