The Lenovo 3000 N100 is worth looking at if you can find it, or the HP dv1000t.

Dell D620 seems like a good choice. They have some good deals going on at Dell's Outlet store.

Thank you Chaz and ZaZ for your input.
I would love a Lenovo N100. Unfortunately it costs $335 more in Malaysia than it does in the USA and I can’t bring myself to buy something with such a huge price difference for the same exact model.
The price for basically the same specs on a Lenovo N100 and the ThinkPad R60 is almost identical in Malaysia. Had the R60 been a widescreen I would have probably opted for it.
I haven’t even considered the Dell 640m but it seems like a viable option after having read the computer-notebook.com review on it.
I am a little curious why you guys haven’t mentioned the Compaq v3000. Would this model be unsuitable for my needs? The price is almost identical in Malaysia and in the USA so I wouldn’t have any qualms purchasing it.

If the Compaq V3000Z is available, it would be a good option - since that is available where you are, the dv2000t might also be available.
