I don't specifically know about maya but integrated is bad with anything and everything that is 3d. You can find many good options out there for workstation laptops, and a cheap ati x1300 will even blow away any integrated card.

Yea I agree. Integrated graphics cards are just horrible. You rather get a cheap graphics card that at least has its own dedicated memory.

You will hit the wall quickly with integrated graphics.
3d programs use hardware OpenGL to redraw and manipulate models and textures.
You don't need a killer card, but you would def want a video card that is somewhere in the middle with 128MB or 256MB ram

Re: 3d and integrated graphics
It depends on how patient you are, I guess.
For 3D apps like Maya, any hardware 3D is only going to be used for live preview so it doesn't need to be a higher end card. A nVidia go7300/ATI X1300 would do the trick. Integrated graphics (with the possible exception of the ATI Xpress200) probably won't cut it.

i think the most work that the video card would do is display textures and polygons, when animating i use low-poly proxies, does anyone have any experience with integrated video cards and 3d software?
