Question:
Experiences with "refurbished" items?
Hi everyone.
Just yesterday I was asking what laptop to get.
Well I called up my local computer stores and found a laptop with the following specs.
Pentium 4 630 3.0GHz W/HT technology
2GB DDR2 SDRAM
100GB Hard Drive
DVD+-RW DL
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X600 dedicated
Wireless 802.11b/g
17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition 1440 x 900 Display
and the Lan Ports, USB ect.
The price?
$1100 USD
the only "flaw" is that it is refurbished, BY HP.
Im Pretty sure this is a good deal (ive heard the processor is very fast) and has good graphics card (not the best, but not the worst) 2GB ram.
well, what do you think? Because its refurbished by HP, do you think it will function like new? Hows the set up?
thanks alot :)

Re: Experiences with "refurbished" items?
The processor is not a laptop processor, it's a desktop. It's best if you look for a Pentium M/Centrino/Core Duo if you want it to run cool and have a batter life over 30 minutes.

is it really only 30 min (or exaggurated?)

Re: Experiences with "refurbished" items?
30min probably depends, but the P4 is a desktop processor so it won't run far from a wall socket very well. with a 17" screen it sounds like this is really just a good portable computer rather that something you want to work on in the cafe or airplane.
I've gotten refurbished stuff from Dell and Apple in the past and if the price is right, is highly recommended. Once in a while refurbished stuff languishes in inventory and their prices don't get updated so they're not guaranteed to be good deals.

Right now, I would not pay $1100 for a Pentium 4 anything.
