Help Meeeeeee :(

Question:
Help Meeeeeee :(
Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and would really like some advice. I plan on buying a new laptop in about a month. I previously had a Presario X1000 for almost 3 years and feel its time for an upgrade. It was somewhat top notch at the time 1GB ram, Pentium M (Forgot speed), High Res screen (1680)
General Questions
1) What is your budget? $1300 max
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
I guess a 14.1 or 15.4 is good...17 may be too large cause I'll be mobile
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook? Everyday stuff: web surfing, watching movies, burning dvds, music
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk? Yes i like to move around with it
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games? Well i guess. I played FFXI with my presario x1000 and the graphics were good enough for me. I don't need anything SUPER SPECTACULAR or anything. I would like to play FEAR and Call of Duty though. Like i said, I don't need any off the chain graphics. If I am playing a game i would most like be listening to music also
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? I guess i'm open to anything
7) How many hours of battery life do you need? At least 3
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person? I rather see it in person
9) What country are you buying this in? US of A
Screen Specifics
10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen? Wide
11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
Standard
a. XGA -1024x768 - Large and easy to read text + graphics icons, but you fit less stuff on the screen.
b. SXGA - 1400x1050 - Compromise resolution between XGA and UXGA.
c. UXGA - 1600x1200 - Very small text and graphics icons, you can fit lots of stuff on the screen.
Widescreen
d. WXGA or WXGA+ - 1280x768/800 or 1440x900; Wider viewing version of XGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
e. WSXGA+ - 1680x1050; Wider viewing version of SXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
Any of those two are fine
12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen. Doesn't matter
Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you? YES
14) How long do you want this laptop to last? about 3 years
Notebook Components
15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB? 100+ (maybe 80)
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive? I already have an external dvd burner, so just a DVD-CD/RW
I know this sounds stupid but those fingerprint readers really excite me lol. My friend has one and I just love how convient it is.

Re: Help Meeeeeee :(
Here are a couple of good choices for you. If you can spring for a little more money, look at the HP NC6400. I was able to configure one for $1379 that includes the ATI X1300. This is not a very powerful GPU but it sounds like your gaming needs are fairly light so it should work well enough. This is in HP's business line of notebooks and I believe does include the Fingerprint reader. If you can't stretch your budget a little bit maybe look at the HP NX6325. This is a notebook with the new AMD Turion X2 processor so is 64 bit and dual core. It has the relatively new ATI 1150 integrated GPU. I don't know much about this GPU but I think it is the upgrade to the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M so it should be a little better than that one which has been the best integrated GPU up until recently. Somebody correct me if I am wrong about this. Anyway, you can get one of these for $1249.00 which fits in your budget. Again, you can find these at www.hp.com and look under the small & Medium Business notebook section. Good luck and Happy computing!

I would suggest the HEL80. It has a standard finger print reader and fits the budget.

discountlaptops also has it
Some people don't like the look, and others do. The build quality is rock solid. It is at least as good if not better than the asus 96j.
It has a dedicated media button set too, which is the one thing I don't like about the 96j.
