3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
I do alot of photos and music along with MS Office programs, but my kids enjoy games and internet.
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
I am a teacher and will be taking it back and forth with me from home to school.
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
My kids play games, mostly internet games (Disney's Toontown and Runescape right now) but I have a 12 year old who will be turning 13 soon and is starting to play more advanced games.
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
I have had Dell's in the past but my most recent laptop is only two years old and the mother board is shot and it will be $500 to fix it!
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
I don't use it much on battery so 2-3 hours should be fine. If I can get more it would be nice but not necessary.
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
I have always bought online.

10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
Widescreen would be nice because we have several DVDs we can watch while on vacation.

I don't really care how it looks as long as it works.

Need it ASAP - I am presently working with an old Pentium 3 processor and my kids are going crazy!

15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB?
Lots of pix - probably 80
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?
I would like to like to be able to write to CDs and DVDs so I can send photos to grandparents.
I have looked at the HP dv5000t and the Dell 1505. I really can't decide. I need soemthing durable because of the extensive amount of use it will get between work, school and two boys.

Is it worth the extra $30 for me to upgrade from the 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 HyperMemory video card to the 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 TurboCache video card?

yes the go 7300 and the x1400 are closely matched there really is no difference...
id go with the hp ull have more luck...

I've been looking at lots of web reviews of the GeForce Go 7300 vs. X1400 and almost all of them recommend the X1400.
I actually decided to upgrade to the e1705 with a Gforce 7900 but if I had stayed with the choice you have I would buy the x1400
