Question:
Asus, Battalion or Compal
I've almost made up my mind on buying a Batallion CLS-Turbo from ibuypower.com (http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/c....aspx?mid=177), but it's still a toss-up between this battalion model and an Asus model (http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/c....aspx?mid=173). My main concern is power and reliability, with weight, size and battery life being secondary. Another problem is that I read somewhere in these forums that ibuypower isn't a good site to buy from: ibuypower i believe has been universally condemned by many people on these forums if i remember correctly
I was wondering why this is, and whether I should find another site to buy from. It's really too bad if it's true, they had really great prices :( . Finally, another review pointed me to a Compal Hel80, but it's significantly more expensive than the ibuypower models (1.8k compares to about 1.4k). Is the Compal really worth all the extra money?
I really hope you guys can help me out, I had some rough experiences with a Toshiba Satellite A75-S209 that a couple of reviews and trips to forums really could have helped out.

iBuypower looks like a nightmare. I would take a look at the HEL80, Z96J or the NC8430.
I don't think the HEL80 is that much more expensive (1.4k sounds right), unless you feel the need to max it out and waste hundreds of dollars.

I'm still not sure what's the problem with ibuypower. Aren't they offering the same product? If the product is good, I don't really need customer support. But if the notebook itself is somehow of a lower quality, then I'll look elsewhere. Which is it?

It's both. Bad customer service, slow shipping followed up with cheapily made products with faults the company doesn't recongize. Just look at the reviews, next to nobody is happy with their order.
This isn't a desktop, you will be suprised the need for customer service and warranties with notebooks.
