17" - the Dell Inspiron E1705 with the Go7900GS 256MB will give you the most performance for your money. However, it doesn't have a full-size keyboard (no numpad) as you would expect from a 17", and the design is . . generic.
You could also consider the HP dv8000t, but it has a less powerful Go7600. Still enough to handle the latest games comfortably though. It can take dual hard drives.

Nc8430 does seem like a good option if you opt for a 15.4.
