Finally starting college and looking for a notebook any help would be greatly appreciated
1) What is your budget
1000-1600, if its a little over thats fine
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
b. thin and light
c. mainstream
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
homework, internet, some gaming, would like to put a bunch of dvds and songs on there
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
taking it around
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
last game i played was age of mythology so not really gonna play a lot cuse planning on getting a next gen system around christmas
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Dont care as long as they are reliable
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Never seen anything more then a 8 cell which runs like 2.5 hrs? If you could go more then that I would be looking for 4 hrs
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

not really long as it something random like yellow

6 years, dont wanna spend a bunch of money then have the thing not working a year if i have to pay to make it last longer then i will

anything 80 and up

I was messing around on dell.com and came up with this, I heard that even 1 gig or ram is bad @_@ i figured i'd as you guys if this is true

Hp 8430 should staisfy you. hmmmm im guessing im wanting a lot for the lack of gaming and things im going to do on i cuse looked at that one and it seemed like it had less everything and was only a couple hundred less :decision:

well i figured they would have some kind of sale on notebooks before school started so might as well wait not going to school for another couple of months so not like im in a huge rush. thanks for the responses so far everyone.

with your budget i would consider the dell d620 or thinkpad t60 or hp nc6400, unless you were planning on playing the newer games. you should stick with business quality notebooks if you want it to last a long time. the inspiron 1505 definitely has a lot of bang for the buck, but its build quality is a bit lacking.

yeah its crazy the amount of choices there are you can get an asus 96j for around 1400 loaded with everything including a good graphics card (just incase)
