Question:
Graphics card for the non-gamer
I'm in the process of putting a laptop together for general college use. Is there any reason to fork out extra dough for a dedicated card if I'm not playing games on it? After reading lowlymarine's faq it seems that an integrated card saves on battery life and heat.

I don't really see the need for dedicated graphics if you're not going to take advantage of them. I think that Intel's GMA 950 (or upcoming X3000) would work fine if all your using it for is school. And not only will it save you some juice and reduce heat, it'll also save you on the cost of the notebook.

Perhaps the reason would be if you want upgrade it to Vista and run it with the eye candy which will probably not run on an integrated card.
