Advice on what laptop to get.
Hi guys, I'm totally new to Laptops, don't know the performance or whatever. Would be much appreciated on what laptop to get.
I'm looking for a mid-spec laptop.
I live in Australia so the currency will be in AU.

1) What is your budget?
- Max $2500
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
- Mostly Gaming i.e WoW, FPS (HL2, Doom3, Quake4), internet browsing movies.
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
- No not really.
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
- As stated above, WoW and FPS games. looking for decent performance on newer games.
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
- Asus since I've looked at A6JA model and Acer. but I heard Asus is good price and quality.
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
- 2 hours plus, not a big deal since i'll probably be using the charger most of the time
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
- I prefer to buy it from the store

- Wouldn't mind it looking pretty stylish otherwise I'd still prefer performance over looks.
14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
- ASAP moving to the new house and my desktop is going to be sold. probably 2-3 years of use?

- 100gig and above 5400rpm.

if you do mostly gaming, I strongly recommend to get a 17" solution. Those are usually the only notebooks that can host a powerful Videocard, such as the Geforce 7900 in the Dell Inspiron E1705 series. Costs will be below your budget even. Heavy gaming really requires lotsa RAM (1-2gig), a fast harddrive (7200rpm / 100gig), a good videocard (Geforce 7900) and a fast CPU (Intel Core Duo 2.0Ghz, later upgradable to Intel Core 2 Duo 64bit)..

Hi, the dell looks very nice, but if you can find me one thas $2500 or less with those specs it would be nice. I checked the dell website, the price is around $3500.
