I would suggest going and checking some screens to see what you like better. It seems to be the biggest difference between the notebooks and you'll spend hours staring at it.

Since you are mainly using professional-class apps and not games so much, then I would suggest something with an OpenGL video card (Nvidia Quadro). The Dell Precision M65 is worth a look:

The Sony FE is a good notebook, but the 128MB Go7600 will not deliver the performance that the X1600 256MB in the nc8430 offers.
