I'm kind of new to buying laptops... so far from what I';ve been reading and heard I like the features of the Apple laptops, but my concern with getting an apple is how comparable the software is to Microsoft Windows... I don't know if the computers at my new school will be able to take mac, or if they deal with wondows, so I wouldn't know what to do if they don't

Re: Highschool laptop
By 'online games', do you mean the flash-based ones you go to websites and play, or 3D ones like Counter-Strike?
I don't know if the computers at my new school will be able to take mac, or if they deal with wondows, so I wouldn't know what to do if they don't That is something you should find out before you make a decision on buying. Make sure all your stuff works on OS X.

Re: Highschool laptop
most of the standard windows word processing stuff is runnable on Macs, through their iWorks suite, which i hear is pretty good. you don't have to spend $1500 for the laptop you're looking at (although i dunno about canada) but you don't need an expensive processor or graphics card (although it would be nice to have them). i suppose you could go with a basic macbook and be pretty happy.
