64 or 32bit & more questions.

Question:
64 or 32bit & more questions.
Hi,
i'm going to buy a notebook soon so i would like as much info as possible to be sure to get a good deal. so i have lots of questions.
i'm going to use it for school work and play games (in the holidays) price range to around $1700 but i would really like it $1400-1500
1. should i get a 64bit AMD (if so what type tutition?) or a 32-bit dual core Intel. i know i should get 64 bit for the future (vista?) but i'm worried that when i'm at school microsoft office might not run on 64 bit and some other application the school might require me to install.
2. is newegg a trustworthy website? i usually buy things in shops and this is the first time i shop online (except for amazon), so i see that newegg stuff are really cheap but it gives only 1year limited warranty so it might break the instance it reaches my hands!
3. does anyone have a table of comparison with ATI & Nvidia desktop vs. ATI & nvidia notebook. (basically just want to know if X1300> 6600GT or X1400> 6600GT or GO 7300 > 6600GT or GO 7600 > 6600GT.
4. i've heard that nvidia cards are hot and takes lots of battery power, is this true?
thank you very much for your time!

Re: 64 or 32bit & more questions.
hi!
first of all; do you want to buy the computer right now? 64-bit dual core intel is just around the corner (core2duo)
1) that being said; u don't really NEED 64-bit processor to run Vista; vista also support 32-bit, and so does all the software it comes along with. windows (incl. XP) can emulate 32-bit application in 64-bit environment.
so... get the 32-bit dual core intel, don't get the single core 64-bit AMD
2) i don't know about newegg... sorry
3) ...
4) all dedicated graphic cards (ati, nvdia, etc.) generate heats! the more powerful they are, the more heat they generate, they also takes more battery than the intergrated one.

Re: 64 or 32bit & more questions.
64 bit aplications need more time to run as well as 32 bit, so if you get a core duo that it's 32 bit only you will have all you need.
I read here in notebook review's forum and I think that newegg is a good place to buy and depen on what type of notebook you buy there are some other shops better than newegg
The graphic card. There is a comprison between card in this formu, exactly in gamming forum, there you'll see all the difference between cards. If you can choose ati x1600 or nvidia 7600GO.
I don't know if ati or nvidia generates much heat or not, but all generates heat. It also depens on the cooler system of the notebook.

NewEgg does not except returns on notebooks. Buy with that in mind.

thanks.

Re: 64 or 32bit & more questions.
The Core 2 Duo notebooks will begin to ship early September. Not all notebooks will have it available at launch, so you will probably be waiting.
can i trust IBuyPower brand?
and does anyone know if this is good enough for source games on all low? 1. Check www.ResellerRatings.com
2. Check the games requirements and compare it to the system.

Re: 64 or 32bit & more questions.
I believe it is, as when i search for it on Google, the words "dual core" keep popping up. And it is definetly 64-bit, as can be seen in the name of the chip.

NewEgg is a pretty popular place to buy hardware. Pretty trustworthy.
About graphics cards, hard to say, it varies. With the latest generation, NVidia's cards generally generate less heat than ATI's. Two years ago, it was the other way around. Next year? Who knows.

can i trust IBuyPower brand? I don't know anything about iBUYPOWER, but you don't need to worry about buying from newegg.com. However, if you like the S96J, you can get it from powernotebooks.com, with specs comparable to those in your link, for around $1400 shipped. That includes a 3-year warranty. As Chaz suggests, read the reviews at reselleratings.com.
