I'm goin to college, don't expect to do a whole lot on the laptop. Just want something i can use wifi, typing, and dvds.

Basicly i just want to find the cheapest laptop out there that can do what i want and run windows xp, and even if it can't do all that, a good mix is alright too.

i couldn't find where the 1300 is on their webpage through the normal links, is it any differant than the b130? I notcied that it is slightly cheaper, but the same specs?

Check out Averatec too, they offer notebooks in varying sizes for cheap and are pretty widely available in retail stores to try out.

Might be able to find a Compaq V2000Z for that price - also check the fliers for local stores (CompUSA, Best Buy, Circuit City, and so on).
Acer's TravelMate 2400 series is also worth a look.

I'd check out Dell outlet. www.dell.com/outlet and see of you can grab an e1405 for $500. Have seen some core duo ones around $550.
