High End Desktop Replacement

Question:
High End Desktop Replacement
Hello,
I was hoping you guys would lend your opinions to selecting a high end desktop replacement notebook.
My main criteria would be performance and screen size/res/quality.
The notebook will spend most of its life plugged in, and stationary, however, the portability of a notebook is required. It will mostly be used with the standard multimedia applications (photoshop, illustrator, flash, director) with some 3D, fps gaming and short video editing.
The specs I am considering are listed below.
----------------------------------------------
Processor:
- AMD 64 3400+
- Pentium 4 3.2GHz
Screen:
- Enhanced screen (ie. xbrite)
- at least 15.4"
- 17" preferred
Ram:
- 1GB
Storage:
- 60GB 7,200rpm
Video:
- Radeon 9700 128mb or better
Wireless:
- 802.11 g
Optical:
- CD-R/RW/DVD
Ports:
- USB
- Firewire (IEEE 1394)
"Would be nice" extras:
- TV tuner
- DVD burner
Budget:
- Ideal: $2500-3000 US
- Max: $3500 US
----------------------------------------------
I am currently interested in the following models:
- Hypersonic Aviator AX7 (AMD 64 3400+, 17")
- Hypersonic Aviator GX7 (P4 3.4, 17")
- Dell Inspiron XPS (P4 3.4, 15.4")
- Toshiba Satellite (P4 P25, P30, P35)
Any comments suggestions are much appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance.

Answer: Actually I think you're right on target with those choices. The HP zd7000 might be of interest to you too and they offer some good deals on that. The HP zd8000 and a new 17" laptop from Dell will be out in the next 3 - 4 weeks so it might be holding out to see what those offerings bring to the table.
Answer: Thanks for the reply abaxter.
What do the specs look like for the 17" Dell?
Thanks again!
Answer: ther isnt a 17" dell yet, but if u wait awhile the dell 9200 wif a 17" LCD shld be out soon.
Answer: In addition to considering the HP zd7000, you should also check out the offerings from Sager since they have some machines that meet your specs. Look at pctorque or powernotebooks. I liked both those companies, although I didn't end up buying from either of them.
Answer: Thanks again for all your suggestions![:D]
Answer: For the $125 HP wants to charge for the 60GB 7200Rpm drive, you could buy one yourself and replace the old drive. I know Dell had them on sale last week for $126. Then you could put the old one in an external case, makes a good backup device. Or you could sell it on Ebay. You'll probably get at least $70 for it if you get the standard 60Gb. Make the shipping costs low, like $5. That always seem to make people more interested. I upraded my Presario 2199 to a 7200Rpm drive. Sold the old one on ebay. I got $68 after fees. It only cost $4.50 to ship with confirmation since it was so small.
Answer: Does anyone know if the Hypersonic Aviator AX7 is the same system as a the Sager NP4750?
According to powernotebooks.com, the Aviator GX7 and the Sager NP5690 are both made by Clevo, but just branded differently.
I dont care about the paint job that Hypersonic offers, so if they are the same systems, the Sager NP4750 maybe be the wiser money choice.
Any comments on Sager's after sales service? tech support?
Thanks in advance... [:D]
Answer: "Any comments on Sager's after sales service? tech support?"
Sager's tech support is not the greatest, but if you buy from PC Torque (sells the same systems) they have great after-the-sale-service. They even set up a forum for all users of their (and other competing companies like alien ware) systems.
I went with Hypersonic (they do well with customer service too), so far very happy with them!!

Answer: Hypersonic and Sager put out the same type of computer (at least the high end ones are), they get the bare-bones systems from the same manufacture (Clevo ?? I think) Both companies will put a few extras in them and tweak them a little but basically the same system.
