3D Viz

Question:
3D Viz
I am buying a laptop for my daughter, a masters student in architecture. She runs programs such as Photoshop, Cad and 3D Viz. Our budget is under $1500.00. I know she needs a Intel Pentiun III or AMD Processor, 500 MHz or higher, Xeon or dual AMD Athlon or Opteron 32 bit system, 1 GB Ram, 2 GB Swap space, Graphics card supporting 1024 x 768x32 bit colr with (Open GL and Direct3D hardware acceleration supported; accelerator 1280 X 1024 X 32 bit color with 128 MB RAM, Windows-compliant pointing devise, and a DVD Rom Drive. The platform has to be Windows XP Pro SP22, DirectX R.poc, OpenGL.
I copied this off of the specs for the 3d Viz software. I have no idea what computer would have these requirements. Is what we need something we can get for under $1500.00? Can anyone help us?

Re: 3D Viz
Just browse through the notebooks here. FYI to stay away from any notebook with Intel GMA 950. Those can't really do graphics intensive work. There are a lot of computers under 1500. Most 800-900 notebooks offer what you need and even more.

Re: 3D Viz
It depends on what size notebook she wants?
I would definately recommend a notebook with Intel Core Duo...it will work with PS, AutoCAD and im not sure about the other programs...

Re: 3D Viz
A Dell Latitude D620 can be had within your budget and it's a more than decent machine for your daughter's needs. Even better would be a Dell Precision M65, but that would be at least $200 over your budget. The D620 is a very good laptop, though. :)

The HP nc6400 with the ATI Radeon X1300 is another, but probably more expensive choice:

I'd up the memory to 1 gig for your daughter., thats the setup I'll be ordering except I'm buying 2 gb of OCZ from newegg and putting it in myself to save some money, though the cost to 1 gig is reasonable...
