up to 1300USD (tax included)
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Yes, I'll be taking with me from home to school an back
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
NHL2006 etc.
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
I love IBM but don't have money for it. I like ASUS but it's impossible to see them in a shop in the US before ordering. I have a special liking for the HP design. Other brands are fine with me too.
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
3-4 hours if wordprocessing
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
I'd rather see it before I buy it(that's why i cannot go for dell)

10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?

yes - and I need to have a feeling that it'll last some time

NOW, at least 3-4years

anything around 100GB would be fine

Hi Christina - the HP dv6000 series would make a good fit for your needs:

Its video card (GeForce Go7200) isn't the best out there, but if you are casual and just wanting to run less-demanding games, it should be fine. More info on video cards can be found here:
Also consider the Dell E1505, it is available with a higher-performing ATI Radeon X1400 graphics chip, although the design is rather generic and it doesn't look as good as the dv6000z. I also happen to like the HP's keyboard better, but that is personal preference.
How often do you plan on traveling? A 14" screen is probably better if you're going to take it with you more often than not, in which case the HP dv2000t would be a good choice.

I've considered Dell e1505 - it's not a bad notebook at all, just the HP design appeals to me more and as you, I like their keyboard.
Why do you think that the DV6000series would be even better? I mean I would be getting a bit less for the same money than with DV5000 series.
