The best laptop I can find so far is

What ever laptop should I be looking at ?
I have been informed that the above model will come with Merom in sept so waiting until then.
What other laptop would be about the same sort of size and performance for games.
I have looked at the dell xps range, the 17" screen looks nice but its quite a monster in size and weight. Also comes out about £1200

That's incredibly mis-leading and wrong
In practical daily gaming, the difference between the 7600 and X1600 is negligible
Not to mention the Zepto 6615 and 6214 are custom built and are actually faster than other brands with the same cards
If you want a card better than 7600/X1600 you will need to go 17"+. However you already realise they are more desktop replacements...it's all about compromise. How about filling in the FAQ?

Are all the X1600/7600 14.1-15.4" choices in the UK
If you must have Merom, Zepto are your best bet. I'd name other boutique brands, but they're all pricier

best 14" - Zepto 6615 with go7600 @ ~£800

I'm gonna buy my laptop next month, the end of september when I get all my wages and my student loan finally drops in and I currently am looking at the same notebooks.
My laptop is for Uni, so carrying it around is an issue but im not sure I want to drop in performance for portability as this laptop has gotta last me as long as possible.
HP NC8430 or Amilo Xi 1546, im still deciding but by the end of September there might be something else released so im keeping my eyes open.
From what I have read I would choose the x1600 over the 7600 though.

That Zepto is great (6615W). I also really like the 2425W (Compal HEL80), ASUS S96J/Z96J and F3Jm, and HP nc8430 in the 15.4" gaming category. I'm not really sure about availability of the specific models and pricing in the UK, but if I lived there--I'd probably go with one of the Zepto models. Excellent deals.

Unless you actually intend to use Mac OS, I don't really see the point of buying an Apple to run Windows. Macbook Pro's are somewhat expensive compared to comparable systems as well.
